Patients giving back to their own communities
While staying at the BCMF-B.K. Kee Patient House, patients and caregivers learn to sew, making bags, blankets, clothes and reusable menstrual liners that are donated to schools, clinics and camps across Thailand and Burma.
Giving back program
Since 2018, patients and caregivers can learn how to sew or can build on their existing skills during their stay at the BCMF-B.K. Kee Patient House while giving back to their communities. Items sewn by the patients and caregivers are sent to communities in Burma and Thailand, including schools, IDP and refugee camps, migrant groups, and health clinics on both sides of the border. The program not only fosters community engagement but also provides a sense of purpose for the patients and their caregivers during their stay. Participants create items such as bags, hats, clothes, baby wraps, blankets, and reusable menstrual liners that are distributed during reproductive health and rights workshops and other projects.
BCMF also regularly receives second-hand clothes donations from Free Bird Café in Chiang Mai. Patient house residents work together to sort these donated items according to gender and size before they are then donated to migrants, refugees, and IDPs in Thailand and Burma.
