Project Reports

BCMF's wheelchair project was established in 2014 to provide free wheelchairs and mobility aids to children and adults in Burma and Thailand living with mobility-limiting conditions, such as neurological disorders.

In 2024, due to the worsening conflict in Burma, recipients, their caregivers and BCMF partner staff from Yangon travelled to our partner monastery where BCMF held four missions, to ensure it is safer for them to access support.

BCMF began its eye screening project in 2015 and has since provided free eye screening services to marginalised communities in Burma and Thailand.

In 2024, the project continued to carry out missions and expand its reach and impact. This report outlines patient data, key project highlights, plans for 2025, and beneficiary stories.

In March 2025, a 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck near Sagaing in central Burma, causing extensive damage across the Sagaing Division, Mandalay Division, and Shan State.

In response, the Health for All Foundation - Burma Children Medical Fund (HFA-BCMF) coordinated and funded emergency relief efforts through a network of regional partners.

In 2024, BCMF remained the only organisation providing free functional upper limb prosthetics in Thailand for both adult and child migrant and refugee recipients, while also enhancing the project's technological capabilities and expanding its services into the area of neck and hand braces, 3D printed accessories for wheelchairs, as well as accelerating the production of ankle foot orthotics (AFOs).
