Ma Khin Myint – 27 years old
Haemangioma on lip
It has been more than two years since Ma Khin Myint started her medical quest to regain some dignity in her face. During her first surgery two major arteries were cut off so the haemangioma would grow larger, but because of this, her tissue started to die and it got seriously infected. If her blood got infected back then, Ma Khin Myint could have died. On top of that, it made her appearance even worse and Ma Khin Myint wanted desperately to commit suicide. After a lot of visits to the clinic BCMF finally had enough donations to help her in this awful situation. After several surgeries and skin grafting, her face is unrecognizable in comparison to two years ago. She had her last surgery in October 2007 because her nose arteries started to bleed and didn’t stop. Unfortunately Ma Khin Myint couldn’t make it to her last appointment because she didn’t have an ID card or transportation to come to Mae Sot.
Ma Khin Myint has many friends now and people tell her she looks great. She feels beautiful again and all this makes her very happy. One of the problems was that she couldn’t work on the farm anymore because of the pain and this made her feel very useless. Now she can work hard and be proud of herself. Ma Khin Myint can even speak thai now because she spend so many months in Chiang Mai!   Â
Ma Khin Myint said it feels as if Kanchana, the program manager for BCMF, is one of her parents and she is extremely grateful that BCMF and her donor were willing to help her.
