Khin Khin Than
Khin Khin Than’s auntie says her family noticed the child’s health problem at birth. Since that time, she has been sick often, has had a persistent cough and has had difficulty breathing. She was tired and she could not play. Last year her condition got worse and worse and she could not continue going to school. She had palpitations and was extremely fatigued. Khin Khin Than says that she feels unwell and can not play with other children because she is tired.
Khin Khin Than’s father is a farmer for a living, while her mothers look after the children and does the house work. When Khin Khin Than came to MTC nobody could come with her. He mother could not come with her because she needed to look after the other children and her father needs to work in order for the family to survive. Instead, Khin Khin Than’s auntie made the trip with her to the Thai-Burma border to try and get her treatment. Her auntie says that it is so difficult for the family to get Khin Khin Than treatment in Burma because they do not have enough money, but they hope their child will get better so that she can continue her education. If she gets better they hope she has the opportunity to do whatever she wants with her life. Khin Khin Than says she wants to be a teacher when she is older and to teach at the school in the future.
